Humanity has a natural tendency to speculate. We often find ourselves questioning everything from actions of world leaders to “facts” that pop up on our timelines. With this in mind, we must also understand that uncertainty is essential to progress. Overtime, we have looked to ease the feeling of uncertainty by crafting new avenues of catharsis, some of which may not be long-term solutions. MEGA PIXEL seek to convey this idea on "How Long" by presenting the narrative of an individual answering their own questions with more questions only to grow more frustrated with the ongoing cycle. The song demonstrates how a calm rain can turn into a storm. This is part of the human experience.
lyrics
If the gravity gave in
Tell me how would you fall
If you had to go and repent
Who would be the first you’d call
I’ve been looking at my watch too much
I just can’t waste no time
As the Earth continues to spin
We just keep looking at the sky
Wondering
How long does it take
Before the cycle breaks
How long does it take
Before the cycle breaks
Before it goes up
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Up
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
And never comes down
How long
How long
How long
How long
Before it breaks
What’s the chance you will ever know
What do you miss if it never shows up
So much left to give on the home front
People die we share the same blood
Eight billion all from one seed
Half of that got more than they need
Wonder when that scale might tip
Wonder when we gon’ look at receipts
I just want to find my stride
Let the self-doubt go out of my mind
Everybody ain’t that kind
Find me a little piece of what I used to fear
Jump in head first
No protective gear
Hit the battlefield
No body armor
Nothing left to lose
I could not be calmer
How long does it take
Before the cycle breaks
How long does it take
Before the cycle breaks
Before it goes up
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Up
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
And never comes down
How long
How long
How long
How long
Before it breaks
Hourglass
Waiting by the end
By the water
Everybody’s draining
Hours being draining
Being
Being
Someone other
Every hour
Every day
Losing count of every way
There’s a new abuse of
One, two, three, four
I can’t force
You to see the fractions in the fiction
That we’re living in
Insisting
Everything is your decision
Because it’s not
No
Supercalifragilistic diction
Swinging on the two and four
This ain’t rigid
I’ve been thinking
How long does it take
Before the cycle breaks
How long does it take
Before the cycle breaks
Before it goes up
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Up
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
And never comes down
